"5th Annual"

REAPERS
DROP “TURKEY”BOWL 25-21 TO MILLIONARIES
Well folks the 2009 FFA preseason have officially kicked
off and oh with a bang I might add! The East Coast
Reapers hosted its 5th Annual Turkey Bowl
against the Sarasota Millionaires. The Millionaires,
whom are newcomers to the Florida Football Alliance
(FFA), are not un-familiar with its East Coast foe “The
Reapers”. These two have meet on the battle ground
before with the Reapers holding a perfect 3-0 record
against the Millionaires. So as you can guess, this was
sure to be an entertaining game. Now Sarasota is by no
means a pushover!! They have been to two League
Championships were they have come up short but showed
that they are a hungry bunch, in which the Reapers found
out on Saturday night, as the Millionaires jumped out
fast behind their star QB the one we love to call “THE
MAGIC MAN” Mike Peterson He accounted for three scores
in the game. Two passing TD’s and one running TD for the
game. The Reapers whom are coming off their best season
were looking kind of sluggish as they fell behind 17-6
in the first half. “We were trying to put in a complete
new offense and had a lot of mental mistakes” said
center Scott “RED” Robinson. Mistakes that lead to 14+
penalties and 4 turnovers in the game “there is just no
way you can win with that many lapses” said owner Chris
McIntosh. I know its football and the Millionaires also
had mental mistakes but not just at all the crucial
times that we had them. The Reapers tried to shore up
some of their errors and ran off 15 un-answered points
to take the lead 21-17 into the fourth quarter, and
looked to be headed to a 4-0 mark against their rivals
but then the mental bug chucked and the “Magic Man”
struck!! The Reapers offense went three and out but
their defense was game as they forced a third and long
but again the “magic man” had them just where he wanted
them as he took a two step drop and launched the ball to
a well covered receiver down to the Reapers one yard
line. Two plays later the Millionaires “MAGIC MAN”
punched it in to go up 23-21 after a missed extra point.
The Reapers then
had a stalled drive on their side of the field and was
forced to punt near their end-zone, after a bad snap the
Reapers were penalized for an “Illegal forward pass” in
the end-zone that resulted in a Millionaire safety which
put them ahead 25-21 with a little more than 2 minutes
left in the game The Reapers had a chance to win by
putting together a nice drive that was aided by a pass
interference which landed them on the 3 yard line with a
chance to win but the Millionaires “D” stiffened and
held to give the Reapers their second ever loss in the 5
year birth of the Turkey Bowl, and their first lost
against the Sarasota Millionaires. All in all it was a
very exciting game and I think the Million dollar babies
served notice that they are a team that’s hungry to
compete with the teams in their new found League the FFA
as they put their claim to the run for the
Championship!!
SO
STAY IRE!! Me talk to ya soon!!

Bobcats Dethrone The Bulls In
A Thriller 40-34!!!!!
...In one of the greatest games in
minor league history, the St. Lucie Bobcats used a
potent offense and great special teams play to knock of
the defending champions 40-34. This game has already
been labeled an instant classic and many are anxiously
awaiting the replay on USSNTV on Tuesday. Those who were
present to witness the game have said it was like
watching a heavy weight fight!! The Bobcats opened with
a flurry jumping out in front 17-0. The game looked like
it would be a blow out. The Bulls, being the champions
they are, rattled off 20 unanswered points to take a
20-17 lead. Suddenly we had a ball game! The Bobcats
took back the momentum going up 34-20. The Bobcats
looked like they were ready to put the game away. The
Bulls still would not quit and found a way to tie the
score late in the fourth quarter 34-34. Then with ten
seconds left in the game the Bulls on fourth down needed
to make a decision. They had to decide whether to punt
the ball or try and run off the time left on the clock
without turning the ball over on downs and giving the
Bobcats an opportunity to kick a field goal. The Bulls
would then make a decision that will probably haunt them
for a long long time. The Bulls decided to punt and
watched in horror as Harold "scoot" Davis returned the
punt back 60 + yards for the winning score giving the
Bobcats the win with no time remaining on the clock!!
This game came down to who had the ball last as several
FFA records were broken. This was the highest scoring
game in the Alliance's short history!!
